India's Chandrayaan-3 Makes History with Successful Landing on Moon

New Delhi, August 23, 2023 - India achieved a historic milestone today as its Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft successfully landed on the Moon.

The lander, named Vikram, made a successful touch down near the lunar south pole at 6:04 pm IST.

Comprising a lander, a rover, and an orbiter, the spacecraft was named after Vikram Sarabhai, a pivotal figure in India's space endeavors. 

Chandrayaan-3 stands as a pivotal moment for India's space program.

 The mission is expected to yield crucial insights into the lunar surface and its potential resources.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his congratulations to the ISRO team for the triumphant landing of Chandrayaan-3. 

It provides a substantial thrust to India's space program and aids in fulfilling the nation's aspirations in space exploration and scientific discovery.

What lies ahead for Chandrayaan-3? The Vikram lander will deploy the Pragyan rover, which will embark on a 14-day exploration of the lunar surface.

Meanwhile, the Chandrayaan-3 orbiter will continue its lunar orbit for at least a year.
